Photographing Clouds

One of the best things about summer is the late sunsets that provide us with a beautiful golden hour for landscape and ever portrait photography. But the last few days have been cloudy and dark with little to no sunshine. So I had to find a different motive than what I originally planed on photographing for this weeks post.
I went out with my camera without and pre-planned motives or idea of what I am going to photograph. I have to be honest, the gloomy weather provided a terrible lighting and made the pictures look very dull.

That is when I randomly started taking pictures of the sky. I was fascinated by the different shapes the clouds were forming and how they were delicately roaming the sky. We might not pay much attention to them but they can be a quite decent motive.
After taking few shots of the clouds, I waited a little until the sun was about to set. Unfortunately, there wasn't any direct sunlight. So the sun was covered by the clouds. Nevertheless, I turned the shutter speed up to not overexpose the sky.

I edited all of my shots using Lightroom. I did not touch them up that much though. I like to do everything that needs to be done before the picture is being taken, as I only use post-production to slightly enhance my pictures. I am very pleased with how the pictures turned out. You can see more of the shots in my gallery. I will definitely be taking more pictures of clouds in the future.
