Spring Photo Shoot

Spring is my favourite season for taking photographs. Winter is finally over. And with all the freshly bloomed flowers, ideal weather and the overall beauty of the natural surrounding, I could not resist going outside and taking advantage of it.
Before I go out for a shoot in spring or any other season, I usually hike or take a walk earlier that day or few days prior, looking for a potential shooting location. This is very important. As it helps me avoid wasting time looking for a location.
Lighting is one of the most important parts of a Picture and it should definitely be a part of the photo shoot preparation. I usually plan my photoshoots during the golden hour. In case you don't know, the golden hour is a short period after sunrise and before sunset. This period is highly favoured by photographers.

After getting to the location on the day of the shoot, I tend to gravitate towards flowers during spring. This where my previous blog post comes in handy. Focusing on patterns can make the photographs more interesting.
I am always looking for new ways to take pictures of flowers. Shooting flowers against the sun to illuminate the petals is one. You can also do it to photograph leaves. This method gives the subject dimension. I avoid reflected light as it tends to make the subject appear flat.

Playing with the foreground can also make pictures more interesting. I usually tend to set the depth of field to its lowest to create contrast between the blurry foreground and the main subject.
Spring is more than just flowers though. Sure, blossoms are nice. But there is a whole wide world out there. I always try to diversify my photoshoots. Not only will make my photoshoots less repetitive, But I will also end up with more Pictures than I normally would.
